The People and Parliament web forum formed part of the inquiry by the House of Lords Information Committee into how the House of Lords can improve understanding of its work and role, and how people would like to interact with the House of Lords and Parliament as a whole.

The forum closed on 21 May 2009, and I'm very grateful to all those who contributed: we received many interesting and thought-provoking posts, which helped inform the recommendations that we made in our report.

The Committee's report, Are the Lords listening? Creating connections between people and Parliament, was published on 15 July 2009. The Committee suggested radical changes to improve public engagement with the House of Lords, and Parliament in general. The Committee’s recommendations aim to make Parliament easier to understand.

Thank you once again for all your contributions.

Tim Renton, Chairman of the House of Lords Information Committee
