Web forum now closed "The Speaker's Conference on Parliamentary Representation was asked to look into the reasons why women, disabled people and people from ethnic minorities are under-represented in the House of Commons, and to recommend ways in which the situation can be improved. The Conference also looked at issues of representation relating to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community."The Speaker’s Conference on Parliamentary Representation Final Report was published on 11 January 2010. "This web forum ran from 11 May to 23 June 2009. We received many thoughtful and constructive posts, containing a range of ideas for improving representation. Along with the written and oral evidence we received in the course of our inquiry, the forum posts helped shape the recommendations we made in our final report." |
